In each generation there is a particular root-correction of one mitzvah above the others, and the passage illustrates that Noach was "a righteous man, perfect in his generations" by meaning that in each generation in which he lived, he upheld and repaired that particular root-mitzvah which was uniquely suited to that generation.
ונ"ל דבא לאשמעינן עוד דבר אחד, דהנה בכל דור ודור יש שורש לתקן מצוה מיוחדת יותר משאר מצוות, למשל בדור הזה יש שורש לתקן מצות ציצית יותר משאר מצוות, וכדומה בכל דור יש שורש להחזיק במצוה מיוחדת יותר משאר מצוות. ובא הכתוב לאשמעינן שהיה נח "צדיק תמים בדורותיו", ר"ל בכל דור שהיה חי, היה מחזיק ומתקן אותה שורש המצוה המיוחד יותר לאותו הדור.
