אבן עזרא
Ibn Ezra on Genesis 30:21
Q — How did Leah bear eleven sons and a daughter in seven years in Charan? Ibn Ezra notices a textual clue: for Dinah, the Torah does not write "ותהר עוד לאה ותלד בת" (as it does for every son), but rather "ואחר ילדה בת" — no separate pregnancy formula.
A — Ibn Ezra adopts the view that Dinah and Zevulun were twins. The missing "ותהר" is the textual evidence, and Ibn Ezra cross-references the exact same phrasing about Esav and Yaakov's birth — "ואחרי כן יצא אחיו" — where "אחר" denotes minutes apart. The principle: textual silences carry weight as peshat clues. The chazal of Berachot 60a ("Leah judged herself — שדנה לאה דין בעצמה") reads the same word "אחר" differently. Ibn Ezra preserves the philological observation as peshat and brings the derash only in footnote.
