אבן עזרא — והקריב אהרן את פר החטאת אשר לו וכפר בעדו ובעד ביתו

The Torah says "והקריב אהרן את פר החטאת אשר לו וכפר בעדו ובעד ביתו" in pasuk 6, and then again — verbatim — in pasuk 11. Why the repetition? Chazal (cited by Rashi, codified by Rambam in Hilchot Avodat Yom HaKipurim) read it as TWO viduyim: the first for himself and his household, the second for himself and his fellow kohanim ("בית אהרן"). The "ביתו" in each verse has a different referent.

והקריב אהרן - בעבור שארכו דברי השעירים הוסיף לבאר: אחר שהקריב הפר ושני השעירים אל אהל מועד יחל לשחוט את הפר שלו.

אבן עזרא

Ibn Ezra on Leviticus 16:13

Q — The Torah says "והקריב אהרן את פר החטאת אשר לו וכפר בעדו ובעד ביתו" in pasuk 6, and then again — verbatim — in pasuk 11.

A — Ibn Ezra rejects the two-viduy reading. There is only ONE viddui on the bull. The repetition is stylistic — between pasuk 6 (offering the bull and the goats) and pasuk 11 (slaughtering the bull), the Torah inserts the extended discussion of the goats and the goral. To return the reader to the bull-narrative, the Torah re-cites the end of the pre-digression passage ("והקריב... וכפר בעדו ובעד ביתו") and only THEN continues "ושחט." The doubled phrase is a literary "place-keeper," not a halachic doubling. The peshat reading dissents from the established halacha, which Ibn Ezra notes but doesn't adopt as peshat.

והקריב אהרן - בעבור שארכו דברי השעירים הוסיף לבאר: אחר שהקריב הפר ושני השעירים אל אהל מועד יחל לשחוט את הפר שלו.
