A — Until now Hashem fought their wars supernaturally — but that mode is undignified (an adult son still on his father's table) and unsustainable (any spiritual slip triggers immediate defeat, and the Canaani attacked the moment the ענני הכבוד departed). Israel asked for victory through NATURAL warfare — so they would appear to the nations as גבורים ביום קרב and the deterrent would last. The chiddush isn't replacing nissim, but ADDING natural success. Yeshayahu 60:19 captures the dual mode: "ה' לאור עולם" (nissi) and "אלהיך לתפארתך" (natural).
