What does Moshe mean by "לא הרעותי את אחד מהם" — "אחד" of WHOM?

Meshekh Chokhmah, Korakh:7

Q — What does Moshe mean by "לא הרעותי את אחד מהם" — "אחד" of WHOM?

A — "אחד" here means the MOST IMPORTANT among them (cf. "אחד העם" Bereishit 26:10). A man with fake humility is gracious only toward people clearly beneath him; toward equals or those slightly above, he distances and humiliates them — afraid others will think his deference reflects their actual superiority. TRUE anavah (like Moshe's, evidenced in his reaction to Eldad and Medad — "ומי יתן כל עם ה' נביאים") is shown davka toward people of equal or higher stature. Moshe is testifying: I did not even slightly diminish the GREAT ones of Israel — on the contrary, I added to their honor.

Worker Withdrawal and Employer Remedies in Halacha

Jewish law permits a laborer to withdraw from employment mid-job because he serves God, not man, but this right is limited when the work involves a time-sensitive loss (davar ha'aved). The sources explore how employers may recover damages through wage deduction and replacement-cost recovery, and when the principle of irreplaceable loss overrides the worker's freedom to retract.
