The Raya Mehemna presents the commandment of tzitzit as a garment of divine kingship and a means of drawing the wearer into awareness of the supernal order. Its physical fringes correspond to spiritual dimensions and help bind a person to the commandments.
רעיא מהימנא צִּיצִּית פִּקּוּדָא דָּא אִיהוּ לְאַדְכָּרָא כָּל פִּקּוּדֵי אוֹרַיְיתָא בְגִינָהּ כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר וּרְאִיתֶם אֹתוֹ וּזְכַרְתֶּם אֶת כָּל מִצְּוֹת יְיָ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם דָּא אִיהוּ סִימָנָא דְּמַלִכָּא לְאַדְכָּרָא וּלְמַעַבְּדָא. כְּתִֹיב (שמות כ״ח:ל״ו) וְעָשִׂיתָ צִּיץ זָהָב, וְהָא אוֹקִימְנָא רָזָא דְּצִּיץ לְאִתְעַטְרָא בֵּיהּ כַּהֲנָא רַבָּא. וְדָא אִיהוּ צִּיץ, לְאִסְתַּכְּלָא בֵּיהּ עַיְינִין, דְּאִיהוּ סִימַן דְּעָלְמָא עִלָּאָה, דְּאִתְעַטָר בֵּיהּ כַּהֲנָא רַבָּא. צִּיצִּית אִיהוּ נוּקְבָא, רָזָא דְּעַלְמָא תַּתָּאָה. אִסְתַּכְּלוּתָא לְאַדְכְּרָא. צִּיץ דְּכַר, צִּיצִּית נוּקְבָא, וְדָא לְכָל בַר נַשׁ. צִּיץ לְכַהַנָא.
