Q — What did Moshe mean by "עמדו" — and why did Ibn Ezra gloss it as "פתח אהל מועד"?

A — Moshe normally received questioners in his own tent in מחנה לוייה — which a tamei la-met may enter. But to receive Hashem's answer he had to enter the אהל מועד, which is מחנה שכינה — forbidden to temei'ei met on penalty of karet. He therefore warns the petitioners: STAY at the entrance of the אהל מועד; do not follow me in.
