עקידת יצחק
Akeidat Yitzchak 103:1
Q — Why does God give Moshe a song to teach Israel as testimony? Why call heaven and earth as witnesses? Why foretell their future sin and punishment in poetic form rather than plain warning?
A — Ha'azinu is given as an eternal eidus — a testimony that will outlast the generations — so Israel can never claim they were unwarned about what awaits if they stray. Heaven and earth are summoned as enduring witnesses precisely because they persist forever and cannot be silenced or bribed. The song form ensures the warning is memorized and transmitted intact, set permanently on Israel's lips. By foretelling the exile and return, it stands ready as testimony in every age, proof that the path and its consequences were laid before them in advance.
