עקידת יצחק
Akeidat Yitzchak 13:1
Q — Why bring a flood to destroy a world God Himself had made and called good? Why save Noach through an ark built over 120 years rather than miraculously? What does the generation's corruption have to do with the natural order being overturned?
A — The mabul is a מופת — a demonstration — that the world is governed by hashgachah and is subject to chiddush, not locked into blind nature. A world that runs purely by fixed טבע cannot be flooded for moral cause; that nature itself was overturned proves God's ongoing providence over human conduct. The slow ark-building was itself the lesson, a public, drawn-out call to teshuvah, so the punishment would teach rather than merely destroy.
המבול הוא מופת חותך לחדוש העולם ולקיום הנסים המפורסם על ידי ידיעת ההפכים
