'והקרבת אותם בסל ואת הפר ואת שני האילים, ואת אהרן ואת בניו תקריב אל פתח אהל מועד ורחצת אותם במים' — does 'אל פתח אהל מועד' govern the sal, par, and eilim, or only Aharon and his sons? A second occurrence in pasuk י, 'והקרבת את הפר לפני אהל מועד וסמך אהרן ובניו את ידיהם על ראש הפר,' compounds the question.

Ramban on Exodus 29:3

Q — 'והקרבת אותם בסל ואת הפר ואת שני האילים, ואת אהרן ואת בניו תקריב אל פתח אהל מועד ורחצת אותם במים' — does 'אל פתח אהל מועד' govern the sal, par, and eilim, or only Aharon and his sons? A second occurrence in pasuk י, 'והקרבת את הפר לפני אהל מועד וסמך אהרן ובניו את ידיהם על ראש הפר,' compounds the question.

A — Ramban's preferred pshat: 'אל פתח אהל מועד' applies only to Aharon and his sons (and is the antecedent of 'ורחצת אותם'). The sal, par, and eilim are simply 'brought near' — to the courtyard, 'מקום הכהנים שיהיו מזומנים... פתח חצר המשכן' — without specified destination at this stage. The repetition in pasuk י is therefore not redundant: it describes a further movement, bringing the par from the courtyard to the actual פתח אהל מועד for semicha and shechita (since 'תכף לסמיכה שחיטה' and pasuk יא locates the shechita 'פתח אהל מועד'). The chiddush resolves a duplication by distinguishing two stages: courtyard-staging and tent-entrance presentation.
