Q — Why does the pasuk simultaneously say "ויקחו אליך" (suggesting personal benefit to Moshe) AND "חוקת עולם" (suggesting a chok beyond reason)?

A — For Moshe personally there WAS a reason — the lit menorah caused the nighttime to be "כיום," enabling Hashem to speak with him at night, because "the mind is clearer in light" and "אין אורה אלא שמחה." But for all future generations the lighting is a pure chok — Hashem does not need its light. The Meshech Chochmah extends this halachically: the Sma's ruling that beit din may begin a case at night by candlelight is rooted in this very principle that artificial light functionally substitutes for day.
